horny and awesome, idr much
some parts were disappointing. especially the ending--ruby and the creator woman both find men to have sex with and that's literally it??? idk maybe im anti-sex but. it didn't feel like that's what the central tension of the story was about. ruby and the other self-replicating automata want to figure out who they are outside of the cubes they live in, and outside of being part of the creator woman's 'family' / kinda under her control/expectations for them. it feels like they're reaching towards that by leaving the house and not listening to her, but once everyone gets someone to share physical touch with they're fulfilled??? it felt empty. this movie was gorgeous, gay and funny. i love its style, which is almost enough. it's a little problematic at times (the women running low on x-chromosomes and needing to top up with sperm, someone speaking negatively about the 'lifestyle' of the character who's a trans woman, and a medical record proving the creator woman is a virgin). but it's hilarious and beautiful so i personally ignore
soooo freaking good. abt highschoolers who hack the government + various other things, for fun and to foil the plans of this one evil guy who wants to steal a bunch of money and frame them for it. suuuper funny and i support these kids so much. so much of the movie is like awesome visuals of zooming inside a computer network. awesome music. awesome cast. for an old movie it had girlpower and racial diversity. cereal and phreak have strong girl vibes. there's a moment with a transphobic personal ad but it's brief. kate has a wet dream where she makes dade wear a dress. it's kinda everything
